Prof. Bassim Hammadi
Associate Vice President for Planning and Research Support
Dr. Bassim Hammadi has served as Director of the Planning and Development Department in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation since May 2022, in addition to his role as a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Qatar University. Dr. Bassim has over thirty years of academic experience and earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom in 1992.
Dr. Bassim’s research expertise focuses on catalytic reaction engineering, and he has made significant contributions to scientific research by completing many funded research projects and successfully supervising numerous postdoctoral fellowships, Ph.D. dissertations, master's theses, and undergraduate student research projects. His scholarly activities have resulted in the publication of more than 370 papers in top journals indexed in the Scopus database. His distinguished scientific output has had a substantial impact in the field, with his work being cited more than 78,300 times according to Google Scholar, and his h-index reaching 140.
Dr. Bassim received numerous awards in recognition of his outstanding achievements, including being listed by Clarivate as a Highly Cited Researcher in Engineering for nine consecutive years (2014–2022), as well as being named in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in 2016 as one of the most cited researchers in the fields of Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Science and Engineering.
